Food Photographer, writer & food stylist

I am a food photographer, food stylist and writer based in the historic city of Guildford in South East England. I do a regular blog (link above) and would welcome any new commissions for food photography and styling. I have a home studio and undertake all aspects of work from cooking, styling the shots and taking the images. Examples of my work appear on this blog. In summary I have worked in both food education (undergraduate and post - graduate degree programmes) and in the food industry in product and recipe development. I graduated in 2008 from City University in London with an MSc in Food Policy. In the last 25 years I have developed a career as a food consultant and food writer having published materials both in the UK and abroad (Singapore, Taiwan and the USA). More recent work includes writing materials and managing the content for Active Kids Get Cooking a web based project to encourage children to cook which is managed by the Design & Technology Association, the British Nutrition Foundation and supported by the DCFS. In November 2009 I took on the role of regional manager for Food in Schools for the South East of England. This Department of Education funded programme helps primary schools deliver practical food skills and healthy eating in the primary setting.

This project has now ended due to the government spending cuts last year.

During 4 years in Taipei (2001-2005) I was editor of Centered on Taipei a consumer/lifestyle magazine for the International Community and also wrote for several other publications.

I have written and researched over sixty articles about people, food and places. My work also included: food styling for a Taiwanese cookery book, regular contributor to Discover Taipei (bi-monthly magazine of Taipei City Government), Topics magazine (published by the American Chamber of Commerce in Taipei) and Travel in Taiwan ( a publication of the Taiwan Tourism Bureau) I also teach fusion style cooking.

Commissions

I am available to write on food related subjects for magazines, books and web publications and to prepare food for photography for books, magazines or advertisments and can be contacted via this website. I have extensive experience in giving informative and entertaining cookery demonstrations and have made several TV appearances. Click on my articles to see a selection of my published work.
