Food Education 2010

This is the speech that Jamie Oliver gave when he accepted his prize in the USA for the work he did in Huntingdon on diet and obesity. It's 22 minutes but well worth watching. Food education in schools is facing another challenging period of change as government cutbacks have seen a scaling down of healthy schools and food in schools training which could mean far less skills being taught in the future.

Food Education 1955

This corny and patronising film was made in 1955 but many of the points raised are valid today. I have worked in food education for 20 years and the debate on whether or not home food skills should be taught within the mainstream curriculum is constantly being discussed and dismissed. The current question mark over compulsory food education for Key stage 3 has again been raised since the change in government.
